I think if it had 2 to 3 more yrs on it, it wouldn't taste like jet fuel right out the bottle

I didnt really find it to taste like jet fuel. I did open it and let it sit for like an hour before I poured a glass though and almost everything I've been drinking lately is barrel proof..

No, Thrifty doesn't get any anymore - though as recently as 2011 they were getting younger Van Winkles. The allotment is split between the boutique stores in the area (Cuban, etc.). Some get Saz 18 and WLW, some get GTS and Handy - haven't heard of any ER17 in the area. The store owners have told me they ordered as much as they could get - that was 3 bottles of each this year. I want to find the rep and slap him.

Also, whoever reps 4 Roses here should be fired. I've never seen, or heard of, any limited edition stuff making its way here.

That is more then most stores got this yr outside of Kentucky. I can confirm that my city has only received 12 bottle total 7 stagg, 5 er17, zero of the 0 handy, 0 wlw, 0 saz

4roses limiteds are getting harder and harder to come by.

I've heard some very conflicting stuff about BTAC making its way to BR. We'll find out within the next 2 weeks.

I'd say the Parkers releases are up there. They are different every year. Some years are highly sought after.

Heaven Hill. Master Distiller is Parker Beam.

Same here...maybe I just burned my taste buds down to take it. I remember when 80 proof stuff would burn and there was no way i'd drink it straight unless I was already hammered and even then I wanted it mixed with water. Now its almost like water by its self

I'm a sucker for barrel proof too. I've got EH Taylor BP, ECBP, Stagg Jr, bookers, Russells Reserve SB, and Old Grandad 114 in my cabinet. The OG114 is actually pretty good for when I don't want to drink the more expensive stuff. It has started to turn into my everyday drinker.

I picked up OGD114 the other day, I was surprised how good it was for the price.
