Whiskey/Bourbon/Scotch appreciation thread

I haven't contributed to this thread previously, but I'd like to say that I appreciate and have enjoyed all three of the aforementioned.

Thank you. Thank you very much.

So what was the final verdict on the Stagg Jr? Is it worth trying?

Has anyone shipped Bourbon before? I just did my first sale on the BX and was wondering who the best carrier was?

Gifts/trades or topcubans.com. The truth is that you don't need/have to smoke cubans anymore; there are just as many or more amazing cigars that are non-cuban. It's the history, illegality, and mystique that keeps people coming back.

That being said, everyone should have a Partagas Serie D no. 4 at least once. Incredible smoke.

From the FBD threads:

yall recommend me a cigar to go with some pappy sampling I plan to do this weekend with some friends. Man day...starts with shooting shotguns, pistols, and ar15s and then moves to me hooking them up with some good pours and onto grilling something like ribs or dry aged meats.

you are going to get a very wide range of opions here as far as paring a cigar with good bourbon.

I prefer a middle of the road smoke such as AVO Domaine / AVO #2 / Montecristo #2. You cant go wrong with a higher level Punch or A.Fuente.

some will tell you to pair with stronger smokes...i am sure others will chime in with some solid recs

I have been liking Oliva cigars lately. Most are around the $8-$10 price point and not too over powering to pair with a glass of bourbon. I like the Serie V.

Yea I dont want anything too potent. I may hold off on smoking them until after the pappys at least. I plan to go for all 3 then onto wlw, stag, jps18, ec21 and whatever else we can get down before we are too drunk lol. I am not a big cigar smoker but i know my other friends like them...I have one from time to time.

I'm sitting here in my hotel room looking at the in room dining menu. I see a bottle of Jim Beam is $110 and Canadian Club is $120. Then I look at the bottle of EH Taylor single barrel that I brought from home and I'm soooo glad I bring a bottle of bourbon with me on pretty much every trip.

Hahahaa! Same thing happened to me at the Roosevelt in N.O. last month. I brought some Handy and Eagle Rare but looked at the room service menu and they wanted like $150 for a bottle of Buffalo Trace or Makers, dont remeber. Goose was like 175 lol
