MS baws had a decent tasting last night in honor of National Bourbon Day.
Dr. Beardface.... Results?
BTW: The first annual SMS bourbon bracket is down to the final four. Mrs. SMS has been killing me with her heavy handed pours. She has kicked 4 bottles so far.
Final 4 may be a best 2 out of 3 (assuming I have enough of each to do a possibility of 6 pours each)
Results are probably early next week.

My plan was to just sample it out for other hard to find things. I'm not really sure when or where I planned to do that though.
The problem with trading the rest of it all at once, is I'm really not sure how to value it. I've seen them sell for $1250-$1350. 2/5ths left leaves me around $500. Then there is obviously less value since it is an open bottle. Is around $350 fair or am I being insane? I really don't know, lol. Some guy was actually offering to pay $110 for a 2 ounce sample on the Facebook groups last week.
I guess trading for other open hard to find bottles is an option too.

Id love to at least try that sour mash either from you or whoever trades for it...never had that one.
It's my favorite of the EHT lineup. It just isn't worth secondary to me personally. If I'm spending that type of money I'm getting a JPS17....which I think you still have some that you should sell to me at original retail.

Dr. Beardface.... Results?
Wasn't really for ranking as much as to enjoy some tasty samples, but lowest to highest rated:
-Johnny Drum: Definitely not what it used to be. Lots of sweet corn quality and definitely a sour mash that's young
-WT Masters Keep: Just too light. Not very much complexity for a 17 year product. Drinks easily though
...big gap...
-Old Scout barrel 2066: Great bourbon with good vanilla notes and lots of rye spice; more complex than you'd expect for a 10 year product, but it's up against stiff competition here
-Blantons SFTB: That great vanilla and caramel flavor with some good oak spice on the back end. The barrel proof helps this one out a lot as expected
-Willett 8 year Bonili, barrel 4179: Oh, the butterscotch and caramel. Nice bit of vanilla bean on the middle and ends with some much deeper oak spice than you'd expect from an 8 year
-Bookers 25th: Nose is a bit harsh with the alcohol burn which takes away a bit, but nice rich salted caramel and some vanilla mixed with a cinnamon spice and a bit of citrus rind on the back end
-GTS 14: Get a nice bit of char and vanilla on the nose, much lighter nose than the B25. Good oakiness and vanilla with almost a dark chocolate/caramel mix. Long finish
-WLW 13: Nose is like shoe leather in a good way. Nice butterscotch and brown sugar with the oak spice a bit more subtle with the wheated recipe. Nice long finish. Definitely a star
-PVW 20: My all time favorite. I could drink it all day every day. Nose with nice subtle toffee, lots of vanilla, little bit of spice. Very easy to sip and has lots of vanilla bean and dark dried fruits and almost has a wintermint quality to it when you swish it around. Longest finish and still tasting it after a couple minutes
