Had this last night in KC while we celebrated my father in law's 70th. It was the last of the bottle and the guy gave it to me at half price. Man was this delicious!!!

Is this the best sub-$50 bourbon ($28 a bottle)?

I haven’t tried it yet. Hocus Pokus said they can’t keep it on the shelves. My BIL had a party with a blind taste testing of ten bottles under $50, this one won by mile.

I grabbed it today at Harvest.

Grabbed these three this weekend. 3 hour trip to MS for the four roses. Private select by wine and spirits in the quarter.
10 minute trip to Harvest for the other two.

What did the OWA 107 pack set you back?

it was a forced bundle purchase of the Knob SiB store pick and the OWA107 store pick for $73.

Has anyone tried Kentucky Owl Rye Batch 1 side by side with Batch 2? I love batch 1, so just curious

Have you tried the rendezvous rye?

It's a solid rye. I've had it and some store barrel picks of it and they're all good. Now, it's way different from Angels Envy Rye which is really sweet and almost dessert like. Rendezvous is a good classic rye with lots of spice and mint and some earthy qualities.

Anyone attend/enter the Harvest raffle?

I won a bottle of Blanton’s and won one for my BIL.

They had a few good bottles (EC18, EC12)

I recently saw a picture of someone's bourbon collection on this thread (I believe it was this thread). The collection was nothing short of stellar -- just incredible. Had to be 100 + bottles and lots of rare stuff.

Can anyone point me to that page in the thread?

I finally finished a bottle of Kentucky Owl Batch 1 this weekend. I wasn't a big fan and used it to make Old Fashion's. I have never tried Batch 2 but will likely not drink my other Batch 1.

If anyone in or around BR wants to buy it at my cost or trade for it shoot me an e-mail @ jflsufan@gmail.com

Can someone recommend a bourbon for a novice?

Requirements:

--I want to drink it neat.

--No artificial flavoring.

--I'd prefer a richer, smoother bourbon. However, I don't want one that is boring. I'd prefer a flavor profile of vanilla and/or caramel. Not something that is spicy or cinnamon.

--Pictured below, I've tried Jefferson's and while it was drinkable, I found it to be unexciting. I've also tried Lexington's and didn't like it. However, I did like Russell's.

What does the supply look like where you live? I like most things from Buffalo Trace but depending on the state a lot of their products are on allocation and hard to find.
