quote:Not saying this is the case here, but I have had a liquor guy (at a different store) tell me before that he'll tell you they are out if you call over the phone even if they still have stock of whatever you're asking about.
ETA: Just called and he said they flew off the shelves. Truck came in this morning and they are all out already

50/50 thats what happened.
If you dont have a preexisting relationship with a store, it's best to go grab some wine or campari, etc that you needed anyway; then approach the salesman with arms full and ask for a high demand store pick like this or a blantons.

Father in law called wanting to know how I made my old fashions. So I did a short video and sent him. Any excuse right? New Riff rye.

How is that Hazelburn?
I’ve had just about every Campbeltown whisky but that one.

Yep I’d be willing to bet that is what happened. I was in the Barone store Friday and it had just landed there in the back. They are probably trying to sho away people who just call all the stores in the area and ask. Best bet is to go in. At the very least the guy in charge might get to know your face.

I like the Longrow Red, have had the Chilean cab but it sounds fantastic.
The Springbank 12 CS is on the shortlist of my favorite Scotches, might be my favorite non-Islay whisky but damn it’s getting impossible to find.

Ha!!! That’s the one I’ve had. It is great. Had a couple glasses at a friends. I knew it just as Longrow Red, didnt realize it was finished in Chilean cab casks.
I do need to buy a bottle of my own.

Guy at Metry Martin’s couldn’t have been nicer. I go to Baronne more often, but he was offering a taste to another customer. I asked if they had any left, he said lemme check in the back. I mentioned if there were any 1.75’s I’d love one. He promptly brought one out.
There are a few good spots in Nola who don’t gouge, and Martin’s earns my respect every time.

I am probably biased, but I feel that acquistipaces and Martin's have handled the bourbon craze the best and most fairly.

Bourbon craze is so 2012.

quote:yes. It was cheaper at Martins (123) than Specs (140), which is unexpected since the Springbank stuff is more at Martins than Specs.

Paul Allen, that was the first bourbon craze. There was a 2016-17 run that was just as bad. Then, there was a covid lockdown run.
I have weathered all 3 of them. I am in for the long haul though, or as long as my liver allows me.
