Ironic since Tabasco is aged in whiskey barrels.

They get the barrels from Jack Daniels and clean them out.

If I’m not mistaken, a lot of whiskey makers reuse Jack Daniels barrels, even some of the high end top dollar brands. I believe Jack is one of the last brands to make their own barrels.

Pretty much any whisky, whiskey, tequila, rum, or other barrel aged product like syrup or hot sauce that isn't claiming to be a bourbon is going to use second-use bourbon barrels, because bourbon has to use first-use barrels.

And Jack Daniels is essentially a bourbon.

It absolutely is. And Crystal beats both.

Tabasco is vile vinegar crap.

I really enjoy Crystals, but it has way more of a vinegar flavor than Tabasco which is the reason I like it.

Crystal and LA both list the peppers as the primary ingredient. Tabasco lists vinegar. You may just be dreaming that crystal tastes more vinegary.

It's neither exciting or terrifying, just what the article stated.

All Bourbon brands use first-time barrels as well, since it's one of the "bourbon rules" that you have to use new barrels. Most of them then turn around and sell their barrels to Scotland.

Might work well with a whisky-based version of a bloody mary. Otherwise, no thanks
