We went a few months ago on a Sunday afternoon. Place was pretty dead and the hostess ran after me as I walked in to make sure I had a mask on like I was walking in with the black plague. Umm youre an outside beer garden. They wouldnt let us go to the bar. They sat us in some small arse booth and had us wait for a waitress to order anything. She didnt show up and we all just left. Havent been back.
Plus, an outside place where you cant smoke. Screw all that
Had a very similar experience there in the same timeframe.
We’d get along

To be fair some of those didn’t make it in NOLA either.
I wish bud’s would stick but apparently the owners are psychos.

Why didn’t Rum House work out?

They closed during COVID. Think the owners wanted to concentrate on their New Orleans restaurants.
I hadn’t been in a while before they closed, but that was another place that killed it for a while. Matter of fact, one of the reasons I quit going was the fact you had to park in BFE to eat there.

Mid City Beer Garden lost me almost immediately with their high prices and lack of parking. It’s a nice place…too nice for the likes of me.
I don’t know what Mid City was doing during Covid, but the Bulldog had this weird “floor is lava” esque policy with masks.
The
Who wants to go to a bar and have to talk to people through a mask just because you are standing (somehow sitting without a mask was just fine but don't even think about standing up without it)

To be fair, Bulldog’s issue was one or two specific people/personalities. It certainly was interesting observing which employees ran with the new found power to tell patrons no.
I don’t think you’d see the same from Bulldog today if Covid happened. They lost a great deal of regulars during that time and I feel like I was told it was ownership who told them to chill out when round 2 came.

I think the story with the second Bud's is that the franchisee wasn't purchasing things with the official logos like the cups, napkins, wrappers from the franchisers? She lost both the Baton Rouge and the City Park locations.

Who wants to get yelled at by some twat (male or female) behind the bar? Handle it politely and no problem. Bitch at me and you won’t get anymore of my money.
Since management apparently noticed the impact of the Karen’s, have they done anything to try and
Lure people back?

Not sure who this question is posed to, but BD is doing alright all things considered.
Covid/Karens aside, the people who packed the place out in its hey day are married with kids now and no longer going out at night. So it's more of a steady paced spot with a decent revolving flow than it is a packed out house (Thursdays excluded - trivia is pretty packed).
I wouldn't say the 21+ college kids of today's day have taken much to it like we did.

I was Just curious cause I always liked the place. Hate to think some overzealous employees ruined a decent spot.

Yeah, we avoided it like the plague during Covid and that's saying a lot since it is hands down "our" spot, I used to work there, etc.
Fortunately, that's all in the past. And some of the overzealous folks are gone.

Their taplist and the cleanliness/upkeep going to shite for awhile along with the aforementioned reasons made us remove it from our rotation.
It was weird seeing kids in there during the Covid hysteria
