This thread is just a shout out to my neighborhood...Lower Garden District NOLA. We have the best deli in town (Steins), one of the most underrated wine and food casual places in town (tasting room), a fantastic Vietnamese option in Lilys, and some classic neighborhood haunts like Surreys. A short walk to Tracy's and Parisols where the roast beef po boys are excellent. If you haven't spent an afternoon eating and drinking and chilling in the LGD you need to.

You mentioned tasting room, but don't forget about the rest of the booze. Courtyard, Urban South, Steins, Avenue Pub, Barrel Proof, bars at the Pontchatrain Hotel, and if you want to eat your cake too, Bakery Bar.

Where I am, I'm 6 minutes from Breaux Mart, 7 minutes from Fresh Market, and 8-10 minutes from two Rouses. All pending traffic, of course.

Edit: I don't contend its best neighborhood in city or even best for food and drink, but it's great for me.

Quit driving you lazy MF'er. You live in a walkable neighborhood and are spending all your time in a car.

If you've never snuck out the back door of half moon because a crackhead was swinging a gun around in the barroom you haven't lived.

Lots of great eats in the LGD. Don't forget about Turket in the Wolf - the meatloaf sandwich is on point.
