Just opened that new place "Tortilla Soup" 3 doors down from Passados. Passed this morning and the signe said "Best Mexican in town". At the bottom it said "We have great Sushi too".

Scratched my head over that one? Buyer beware.

I saw that yesterday and thought the same thing??

Picante's on I-49 (Gloria Switch Exit) has good food.

I think they have Karaoke on Friday nights.

I went to la Pagua recently. It was by far the best Mexican I've eaten in town in a long time. By the way, it's behind Baskin and Robins on Johnston. ( if you're a pot head, it's next door to burnt)

Notice the OP said best Mexican and not good Mexican.

I know this sounds wierd, but at Agave, get the Fiesta burger. Best thing on the menu.

AGAVE FIESTA BURGER * Our famous burger, glazed with a mesquite BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, tomatoes and fresh avocado, and apple wood smoked bacon. 10.50

I'm the complete contrarian apparently because I actually really like the food at La Fonda's. It seems nobody else will say that.

Yes. I certainly respect the opinion of others, especially on matters so subjective as food, but the food at LaFonda is really not very good. This is nothing new either. I grew up in Lafayette and the food was just OK back in the 70's. It was always more of "the place to be" IMO. I eat there about once a year these days.
