Greek food is NOT, Lebanese food... Albasha is Lebanese! Drives me crazy! Not even in the same area on the map

For some reason people in Baton Rouge do not understand the difference between Greek and Arabic food.

The Arab world consists of 22 Arab countries. Those countries are Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Morocco, Mauritania, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, Somalia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, the Comoros Islands, Iraq, Djibouti, and the United Arab Emirates.

Chicken Shawarma was Invented in Turkey in the 18th or 19th century, doner kebab means “rotating grilled meat.” When it was introduced to Greece, the locals named it “gyros,” the Greek word for “turn.” Likewise, when it spread through the Middle East, it was called “shawarma,” an Arabic word for “turning.” Shawarma is a Levantine Arab meat preparation, where lamb, chicken, turkey, beef, veal, or mixed meats are placed on a spit (commonly a vertical spit in restaurants), and may be grilled for as long as a day.

Greek cuisine has a culinary tradition of some 4,000 years and is a part of the history and the culture of Greece. Its flavors change with the season and its geography. Greek cookery, historically a forerunner of Western cuisine, spread its culinary influence, via ancient Rome, throughout Europe and beyond.

Just compare what meats are native to each region and the different types of seasoning used in each region for cooking, not the same.

Arabic food does NOT equal Greek food. Greek food is not Arabic food.

Fun Fact, Al Pastor, a mexican style of cooking isnt very old as you might think. Lebanese immigrants in the early 1900's brought the cooking style of shawarma, and introduced it to Mexico. They took traditional Mexican meats and spices and created Al Pastor.

Greek or BR Lebanese "Greek"?

Greek = lamb or beef souvlaki wrap with extra onions and fries inside the wrap

BR Lebanese is the beef or chicken schwarma with extra garlic sauce
