what's the best kind of rice to use for making jambalaya?

I've read on a site where they suggested brown rice over white rice. What's your opinion about that?

I always use Jasmine. 1 gallon of water to 5# of rice comes out perfect.

My opinion is that they dont know what the hell theyre talking about. Medium grain or long grain white rice is traditional. I use medium. I would use Jasmine rice before brown rice. The texture would be horrible for jambalaya.

Not many people are going to be able to detect the differences between jasmine/basmati/plain old long grain rice so as long as it's cooked right. I use mahatma extra long grain because that's what I'm used to cooking and the results are consistent. I've heard good things about popcorn rice but have never tried it.

How has Extra Long Grain Mahatma not been mentioned yet? If you want a gummy jambalaya, use a shorter grain.

I use extra long grain or Jasmine.
