The last few bags of BGE coal has been mostly small chunks. I’ve also had trouble with it burning out at about 9-10 hours.

Also Publix isn’t terrible if I’m in a pinch.

I use the yellow bag on the right. Hands down the best I've ever tried.

Mine too. Big Green Egg lump charcoal is Royal Oak too, just rebranded. I found that my favorite Indian restaurant also uses rebranded Royal Oak sold through a local distributor.

Royal Oak is great. Good price, consistent quality, easy to find because there's home depots everywhere.

My wife buys Cowboy at Costco due to price. Works fine. Probably not the best, but not the worst.

Last weekend I picked up I think it was a 30 lb bag of B&B Competition Logs lump charcoal at Academy. I may try it this evening. I'll get pictures of it later.

I use the B&B Oak from Academy. It’s cheaper than BGE brand and has bigger chunks than Royal Oak.

Kamado Joe brand is the largest and cleanest of what I used. However, I have had to break up many of the logs they throw in that bag.

I've been using Weber briquettes in my Kamado - the Weber Summit Charcoal. With its superior ash cleaning I have the choice of using either type of charcoal. I will have to give the Royal Oak lump a try soon though. I used it previously in my other Weber, but had some bags that produced a lot of popping.

I read on Naked Whiz that Royal Oak lump can come from the U.S. or various countries in South America and that you have to look closely to see the origin. Anyone checked the origin of their Royal Oak?

It’s a good product. I’ve only seen it once at Costco.

I use the Kamado Joe as well. Lots of big pieces. Some are too big for my quick cooks.

Got the giant bag of KJ lump at Costco on sale for cheap a few months ago. 30 lb bag for about $22.

The egg forum guys swear by this stuff...

I haven’t tried it yet mainly because their isn’t an ACE around me.

Shoppers choice has it. It is actually cost comprable to royal oak, but in a larger bag.
