The Bavarian cream on the inside is what makes the king cake great for me.

I agree; it's overrated. I mean it's OK, but there's nothing great about it, and the prices are crazy.

For what they are, they are over-pricing them-------------and people have fallen for the hype about them this time of year.
If you want to eat a Randazzo's King Cake all year long, just get a dozen of their cinnamon rolls and enjoy. The purple, green and gold sugar will be for you to apply to them.

If you are poor and don’t want to risk having to buy your coworkers the next one, just tell us. There are ways you can get around it and we are here to help.
First, chew cautiously while eating. If you feel the baby in your mouth and you are sure none of your coworkers noticed; immediately excuse yourself to the bathroom and spit it in the trash can or the tank above the toilet.
If you feel the baby in your mouth and you think one or more of your coworkers may be suspicious, at this point you just have to swallow the baby and drink a lot of fluids to wash it down. You will see him on the other side, if you know what I mean.
The worst thing about King Cakes is if the secretary is cutting your piece and discovers you are getting the baby before she even gives you your piece. If this happens, you are on the hook and I consider this to be the biggest risk with King Cakes
Besides that last risk, just enjoy it.
