What happened to the Jay Ducote radio show?

Talk 107.3. Tuned in briefly Friday only to find out that this was the very last show. Says he has no immediate plans and spoke as if he had nothing to do. I thought he owned Gov't Taco? And made his own BBQ sauce and rubs that were sold locally? Just an odd ending which seemed to be sudden and unexpected.

Couldn’t really capitalize on his Food Network fame. Gov’t Taco is not good and his products are very meh.
Basically just tried to get by on his image and likeness but in Baton Rouge that doesn’t mean much.

and yes barracuda is pretty awesome, the difference is night and day for something so simple

I heard he and Guaranty parted ways… and if I’m Not mistaken he sold his whole Jay D business to them when he joined guaranty

Jay built a little local fame out of nothing. He started a blog and quickly became the city’s authority on the food scene despite having no chef or restauranteur experience.
He was really never more than a media personality and never built anything substantial to stand on (unless Govt Taco takes off soon).
Props to him for building his brand but he was never able to take it past that. I wish him well in whatever he does next.
I think someone needs to take the taco craze and merge it with the Smalls Sliders business plan. Drive thru and little overhead.

Guaranty owns all of that and has for several years now. Jay has barely been involved in the restaurant recently and now is completely out.

Good question.
Gov't Taco existed and was successful at White Star Market before Guaranty, but no guarantee that it would have survived COVID without the deep media money pockets. White Star didn't, but the brick and mortar plans were in place and started before White Star folded.
Meanwhile it appears as though Guaranty has no clue how to run a restaurant. That's not what they do, so no surprise.
I know Jay will be just fine though.
ETA: Also no clue if Guaranty has any idea how to market Jay's products without Jay.

I was told it’s $3500 for his remote podcasts at events. Maybe Jay is raking without being tied down to Guaranty.
