I had BJs pizza recently. I forgot how much it sucked compared to Johnny's. No comparison really.

Spot on. Are there any other Indian restaurants aside from Nirvana on Magazine?

Saffron is about to open on Magazine. Taj Mahaal and Nirvana are owned by the same family. And there is a place on Houma across from Zoe's called Shyan's and that's about it for Indian. Just not a lot of choices. I liked Curry Corner on Carrollton. It was cafeteria style take out and you paid by the weight, but it was good.

Shyan's sucks, just terrible and small portions. They also throw too much cardamom into the currys.

Taj Mahal is the best in the GNO area and a hidden gem on Cleary is pretty good, Tandoori Chicken.

LiT and Red Zeppelin are legit.

BR needs Korean and Ethiopian. A good Korean BBQ joint could do very well.

One thing I REALLY do wish we had is Mongolian BBQ. This is where you pick your meats, seafood, vegetables, dry and wet sauces and they cook it on a huge flat grill. You can add egg too. Afterwards you get it in a bowl either with noodles or wrap in a wonton.

If there is a German place in SB, I'd love to know about it.

Evi's Schnitzel Haus just opened on Shreveport Barsdale.

I wasn't that impressed. LINK

More & more pop up all the time. This old BR stigma is dying.

I've driven past this a couple times and made a mental note to check it out, but always forget about it. Indian is just really weak in New Orleans. Wish we had more options.

As you mentioned, Saffron will be a great addition. We always pass up Tandoori too, damn happy we went in.
But you can't beat Taj, their curry's are awesome as well as the chutney and selection of naan bread.

Taj's lunch buffet is terrible.

Healdsburg CA here.

Food for regular people is missing except for Mexican. Everything is Michelin star rated and expensive as frick. No good pizza parlors for after softball games.

As soon as you said Shreveport-Barksdale, I knew it had to be that building.

Not sure if you can get bubble tea on the Coast, and I don't know of any BBQ places that are still open.

Otherwise we have everything I want (Greek/Middle Eastern, Mexican, Thai, pub food) either here or within an hour's drive. Helps to be close to New Orleans.

Huntsville AL:

I cant think of an old school Italian place. We have plenty of Mexican but I really wish more would serve breakfast. Jewish Deli. The food selection has gotten much better and keeps growing.
