It means that NOLA does World Class Creole food, but they don't know shite about Cajun food.

Leave the crawfish prep to Acadiana and down the bayou.

People won’t serve you a sauce to dip your crawfish in at a boil

Tell that to my sister-in-law who puts out a few bowls of some nasty dip she concocts with mayo, ketchup, hot sauce and lemon juice at every boil they do-------and she's originally from Thibodaux----OH, and she won't eat an oyster to save her life.

One of her sons and I will cook the crawfish so we know they are well seasoned to start.

Yeah, the dip helps with the burning lips from your shake on seasoning.

If you have to dip crawfish in anything, you are a miserable failure at boiling crawfish.

The dip goes great with the potatoes.

According to SportsGuy’s logic, using any dip or sauce on anything is wrong because it means you didn’t cook it properly.

Guess I better forget about using chimichurri again, cause that means I’m not cooking my steak properly.

Nope. No reason to lie. Born and raised as a kid in the Lower 9th Ward, moved away for 2 years to Mississippi, returned to N.O. proper and have been here since 72.

Currently living in Mid-City and have been for the past 31 years.

And if you were a track and field high jumper, you wouldn't get 1 ft. off the ground if your performance was as accurate as your jumping to conclusions.

Oh no. According to the city folk, any dip means you don’t know what you’re doing. Can’t use any sort of dip with shrimp either.

Ngl, leftover boiled crawfish and canes sauce makes a great sandwich.

I like having a dip option, but it’s for the potatoes more than the tails.

But yes, crawfish dip is for women who see other women doing it, so they want to do it too. It's just stupid for crawfish. Not too bad for the potatoes though.

Good grief. You just can't help yourself with these sorts of posts apparently. You shouldn't wonder why some folks on FDB don't take kindly to you. The manner in which you express your opinions needs some work.

I don't eat dip with boiled crawfish and I'm a woman. I have, however, seen many many men use it and even make it for their boils even though their crawfish is perfectly delicious without it.

I suspect "dip" is common in areas of the state other then the New Orleans area. Almost every place I've gone to for boiled crawfish sells dip with it. It wasn't always that way and I don't remember when it started, though I do recall thinking it was strange when I was first asked "do you want dip with your crawfish?". It was sort of a sudden addition.

It's okay with a bite of potato if you like things like Cane's fries in their dip. I've never had Cane's, but the dip looks the same. I prefer melted butter with the potatoes after I roll them around in some crawfish juices.

Boiled shrimp have always come with a "dip" though it's cocktail sauce, so it's not a stretch that someone might want some sort of dip. I don't love cocktail sauce with shrimp either. Just seems odd to dip good boiled shrimp in a ketchup mixture. It's okay with the lemon, L&P and horseradish and if the shrimp are served cold. I've had a few good ones which included freshly diced onion, celery and the like. I enjoyed the textures. Melted lemon butter would be my choice if I'm dipping.

If people want to dip their crawfish, I say go for it! You should enjoy them the way you like. I'll do the same.
