I’ve been using Herdez chili paste instead of powders recently. I like it better. Herdez Guajillo

This was my pot of chili we enjoyed last night. Used Carroll Shelby's seasoning mix.

I did a deep dive a few years ago and I found the McCormick dark chili powder is the best all around to use as an ingredient. Mexene is best for Texas profile.
Simply Organic for Cumin
La Tienda for smoked paprkia
La Fiesta Mexican oregano ( cheap but good )
McCormick for garlic and onion powder. Badia is really good budget brand.

I ended up going with Gebhardt.. partially because it’s what I found in my grocery store. They also had Carroll Shelby, which I am curious about. Mainly because I’m a fan of his mustangs but I’m not crazy about a chili “kit”. I want to control all other seasonings. Gebhardt was good though.

How do we not have that stuff at H-E-B? We have plenty of Herdez stuff, but not the chili paste.
