Depends what mood I'm in. Sometimes I want to dress nice, have a cocktail and go somewhere like the Cure, Davenport Lounge, Columns or Delechaise. Other times I want to watch sports so I would like a more casual bar like Cooter's or Finn's. And the low end is the dump in the middle of nowhere Arkansas or Rickshaw but is still hella fun when in the right mood.

I need something to do. I'm not the sort of person who merely enjoys plunking my arse on a bar stool to sip a drink. The only time that happens for me is at an airport.

1) No fricking cigarette smoke.

2) I need a pool table, shuffleboard, darts, bowling, pinball, video games, or live music...anything to do.

3) Beer selection.

4) No fricking cigarette smoke.

Lately, I go to places where I've gotten to know the people behind the bar and some of the patrons.

I like informality but I'm no longer interested in truly shitty dives. The've lost their charm.

I hate to say it but when the college aged crowd hits, I'm out.

Right now, I spend most of my bar time at The Rendezvous (close to my house), Victory (downtown) and occasionally Finn's if glassman allows it.

If you go early before the smokers show up, you might enjoy Shamrock. Actually, a pretty fun place. Interesting crowd the later it gets. Pretty much what you would expect.

that's a pretty big point too. If there's enough cigarette smoke to be visible, I'll turn right around and leave.

This is how I am as well. The places I go with only my SO are different than where I would go with friends. I prefer non smoking bars (but think it shoudld be up to the owner) and places with a good beer selection.

My favorite. I also really like The River Shack. I like a good dive bar like The Mayfair or The Milan Lounge as well.

I've been there a couple times.

Also, if a place has a nice patio I am much more likely to go there.

I much prefer smoke free places but I can put up with it for a little while.

I felt like I was too old when I went to Finn's. What's the average age of the patrons there? Did I pick a bad night?

Henry's is my ideal chill type of bar.

monkey hill is upscale enough for me. If its not to crowded and i can sit at the bar. Though i do enjoy getting dressed up and going to fancier places on occasion.

I am usually there in the morning or afternoon. If I am there at night it means I have been there too long. Been a couple of times at night. I would guess average age to be around 27 at night.

That explains it.

So, you hang out at bars in the morning and afternoon? Independently wealthy?

I'm 25. sorry, I generally assume most of this board is around my age. I know that's an inaccurate assumption but I make it anyway.

I am the boss, If my team is playing an afternoon week day match I make about 90% of them.

ETA: I was there yesterday from 1:15 until about 4:30.

Yea, I remember from one of those hurricane tracking threads that you mentioned being in meteorology school or something, or just finishing, and I figured you were in your mid-20's.

I'm mid-40's.

We can still hang at the same bars, though, can't we?
