I was inspired by LL's boudin and pepperjack handpies.
I was not paying attention and I got phyllo dough instead of puff pastry.
Boudin and pepperjack baklava pocket pie thing with some strawberry pepper jelly dipping sauce it is. No ice cream tonight.
ETA: The pocket pie part was an unmitigated disaster. The phyllo made it far too tough to cut into and part of it slid off the plate and ended up on the floor. It would have been far better baked like a true baklava. The dipping sauce was good, but the phyllo dough structure doesn't lend itself well to dipping and it just flaked off into the sauce. It would've been way better as a glaze.
It tasted okay and the egg wash made for a pretty shiny top, though, I guess.
