Homemade chicken liver pate on saltines and homemade kosher dill pickles.

My friend gave me a dozen fresh chicken livers and a 4 pound chicken from the ones she slaughtered Sunday. Doesn't get much fresher than that. I traded her a jug of honey from our bees.

We made grilled cheese and tomato soup. The soup was just Campbell's cut with milk, salt, and pepper, but the grilled cheese was magic. I used smoked provolone and ghost pepper pepperjack with Whataburger jalapeño ranch on buttered toast. It quite possibly could be the best grilled cheese I have ever eaten. The provolone was thick cut and I put two thin slices of the pepperjack on each sandwich. It was so thick and juuuust gooey enough to string out a little bit when you took a bite.

White beans & rice

One of my favorites. Truth be told, I like white beans and rice better than red beans and rice.
