After a week in Texas, my guts need a detox from all the queso and BBQ, SO...

I'm making Vegetable Barley soup, with a side of crusty bread smeared with Kerrygold butter.

The veggies I used are carrots, potatoes, green beans, red kidney beans and fresh zucchini.

Pouring out a vodka water for Jerry Jeff Walker tonight.

That’s exactly how I like my white beans. So creamy.

I know this is sacrilege, but I could go the rest of my life with no red beans and only white.

I had an envie for southern style green beans with ham and potatoes, so I cooked a pot. Served with leftover rice dressing.

Tonight we had a homemade tomato bisque I made on Thursday and grilled cheese sandwiches.

I did the grilled cheeses outside on the Blackstone.

Crisp bacon bits make everything better!

A good grilled cheese sandwich is hard to beat.

Earlier today I cooked a couple of heads of nice cabbage.

While the cabbage was simmering I baked some pumpkin pies for dessert.

Mini pies!

That's it! I'm finished cooking and baking today.

White beans are much more preferable to me, too.

North Alabama.

I put those where my sweet corn patch was this year.

Also planted a little buckwheat for the honey bees and the gluten free in laws.

Do you mind saying close to where? Muscle Shoals? Huntsville? Ft Payne? Cullman?

When will you you harvest the greens? The buckwheat?

Huntsville. The greens and the sweet corn were just planted for our neighbors to get when they need them. We don’t sell any of those.

I love turnip greens. Love turnips in my vegetable soup. It’s not the same without them.
