It was damn good. I remember last time I went, I wasn’t that impressed.

The only thing that was not on par with the rest of the food was the spring rolls (or egg rolls). They were good, just not as great as the rest of the food.

Another item that was misleading was their duck & andouille gumbo. It was amazing but it wasn’t gumbo. It was like a sauce piquant.

Their charbroiled oysters were on point, as well their boudin arancini.

Three adults and a 17 year old, total bill was $230 before tip ($57 a person), with two beers and two martinis.

So, you tipped $34.50?

Oh you’re one of those types.

Regardless, good review.

Good to see it doing well. It’s one of those old school places for sure. Anything still kicking after the mid 90s deserves a shot.

We went a year or so back and enjoyed it. They have the best chargrilled oysters in the city imo.

Not sure what type you are talking about, but gumbo is gumbo, a soup like dish.

This looked like a thick bowl of red beans and rice sans the beans (same color and thickness). My daughter ordered it and was disappointed, so I ate it tonight, and like I said, it was amazing, just not a gumbo.

Mansur's is always in my rotation of places to dine for special occasions. While everyone has a bad night occasionally, they have done extremely well through the years. As a matter of fact our rehearsal dinner was held in the old location in 1999.

One of my favorites in Baton Rouge… chargrilled oysters are easily the best in town….

Yesterday? I was there too.

We’ve been on a Mansurs kick lately, about once a week. It’s good vibes and good food IMO. Only do the bar area - actually dining room is funeral home-ish. But man their food is 10/10 every time.

Go to the sister restaurant, French Market bistro. I've always found their oysters to have the edge over Mansur's

I bet that boudin arancini was quite good.

I always thought you were older than that. Now your post history makes a bit more sense though

If it's not thick and doesn't have okra in it, then it's not gumbo. Really I don't care what you call gumbo, but being thick definitely doesn't make it "not gumbo".

They always have great fish options. I enjoy their gumbo the few times I have had it. Im usually a shrimp cocktail, oysters, then whatever fish they have that sounds good order though

They do, but not as much of a variety as Drusilla Seafood.

This reminds me of a funny story. I performed some work for Drusillas once maybe 15-17 years ago. One of the workers was walking me around told me to order whatever I wanted off the menu while I was working. I started talking to him about the variety fish they had as I remember it being interesting they were offering like 4 different types of fish. He began laughing and told me that it was all the same type of fish and they would just cut it differently for the different dishes.
