It was decent. Not great but decent. Service was fine. A little slow but they were slammed and my guy had to cover us and two ten tops. He was busting and doing all he could do.

I had chicken parmesan. Chicken and breading was soggy, Seemed like chef was trying to cover the whole plate in mozzarella cheese. Ordered pasta for side, didn't include that much pasta. Ok. Flavor was ok. Could use some seasoning.

Got lasagna to go. Ate it tonight. Flavor wasn't much better than Stauffers. Texture was good. Nowhere close to Ginos lasagna or even Bravo where I live in Jackson. Shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence.

The bread was excellent. Folks love it.

Filet was fine.

Spaghetti and meatballs was good.

In other words, a mixed bag. Might try it again but wouldn't recommend to anyone as a first choice. Somewhat disappointed because I always liked the village when I was in school.

It's not in the top tier of Italian restaurants in BR. It's ok.

In no particular order
Gino's
Ninos
DiGiulio Bros

La Contea and Palermo are better too imo.

I was there as well. Saturday night and yes, it was slammed. Love the food. It's one of my favorites in town.

TheSadvocate highly recommends Bistro Italia on Coursey. I’m going to give it a go when I’m back in BR visiting the in-laws.

Not super fancy but the food is very good. Fairly casual

I’ve never liked it. Don’t have a reason to bash them but I can’t tell you I’ve liked the food. The sauce is very acidic, not an ounce of sweetness. If you like a sweet sauce, don’t get the red gravy. If you hate a sweet sauce, I guess you’ll love it.

Got the sea bass once and it was so salty that it was the only place I’ve ever sent back a dish. They apologized and tried to say the chef salted it and then the sous chef or whomever didn’t know the chef did so he salted it a second time. Whatever. They offered to cook another but I told them to bring me pasta or something. Didn’t have the taste for fish again after that salt.

I’ve just never found Stabiler restaurants to be good. Anyway, they just aren’t for me.

Went once and loved it. Need to go back. It’s the son, or nephew, or someone who had restaurants in BR. Deangelos? I can’t remember.

I think there is some relation to the DeAngelos family. We get takeout from there occasionally. My wife and kids are big fans of their pizza

Little Village is gross. I have had about 3 people in the last 3 months that have told me the place is aweful. Food comes out cold, seafood pasta smells like dead fish, Marsala dish was slimey, etc... I will be dining at Gino's, Diguilio's, Palermo, and Bonta Del Forno from now on.

Exactly right. TheSadvocate mentioned the owner of DeAngelos or an immediate family owns Bistro Italia. Some of the best Italian grub Baton Rouge has to offer.

Good to know. I dislike a sweet sauce.

Not for years. I don't think they have anyone in the family still in the restaurant business. Sad.

A 1st cousin writes for them, don't think it's food though. But if she eats what her colleagues write about I would go there. Cousin is HUGE easily pushing 400 at times in her life

We used to go with work buddies not long after they opened in 2008-2009. I probably haven't been there in 10 years and I never was very fond of it. The bread was outstanding though.

It surprises me that red sauce Italian restaurants can stay open at that price point. Who wants to drop 100$/head to eat chicken parmesan and bread. I definitely don't think it's a model that will survive past the gen x generation.

Unless you're drinking very heavily, no Italian places mentioned in here are $100/head.

That part wasn't priced high. Probably $20 for the chicken parmesan or less
