I really liked this place when it first opened in BR. The BBQ chicken was tender, good sized, and seasoned very well. The pulled pork and sausage were pretty good, and I liked the corn pudding as a side.

Since then, the portions have gotten smaller, the chicken isn't seasoned nearly as good as it used to, and the prices have gone up.

What happened? Just another case of bad management? Does anyone else remember how good it was back around '04?

I remember it being pretty decent 15 years or so ago. Quality has definitely gone down from when they were just a couple of places in New Orleans.

They do $2 pulled pork sandwiches every Tuesday so that is a good enough deal to bring me in for lunch.

Outside of that, I'll take Smoking Aces over Voodoo every day

Not sure for the business model shift but it's basically fast food BBQ.

Happy hour specials are fantastic.

I don't remember all of them, but they had $1 high life all day everyday and a 10 wings and a pitcher of beer for $10 at one point.

I used to love voodoo. Then I learned how to smoke meat myself and never looked back...

I don't care for the meat, even though it's not quite as bad as this board says it is.

I do however really like their sides. The mac n cheese and cold potato salad are great.

Downvoters, ID yourself..do you think I'm being to tough or too easy on Voodoo? I think I'm being fair. They used to be really good, now they're just ok.

Voodoo gets more hate on here than it deserves. It's nothing special, but there are certainly worse places to eat

I always forget about that place. Haven't eaten there in years, but I remember their jerk chicken being pretty good.

I agree. Scale of 1-10 it used to be a 9, now it's a 6. But this board acts like it's a 1.

They changed their primary sauce too.

I don't like it as much.

I know one of the guys that purchased it from the initial owners. They put out a decent product for several years, however they just sold a majority of the original franchises to the group that owns Newk's.Im not sure if that is a good thing.I guess time will tell.

It's just kind of too expensive for "meh" food. I love the beans and corn pudding, but a graveyard platter is like ~$16 and it's really just not worth it.

I only go to the VooDoo in Kenner on Thursday. $2 chicken sandwiches.
Everything else like the sides are highly overpriced for the portions.

Nola had been without a much in the way of BBQ places when voodoo opened. Besides one in Kenner I think, Tipton county near the old streetcar barn is the only other one I remember back then

it was at one time much better than it is now

rudys in east Texas is a good example of chain BBQ being done right. No it's not the best you can get but it rarely disappoints. Voodoo now disappoints

I forget about them too. The Denham Springs location seems to have gone out of business.

I thought it was decent until I saw them cutting open boiling bags of meat.
