Lmao. Wow. Don't know what to say. This is so far off its comical.
South Highlands and Broadmoor are FULL of young professionals. And ellerbe is booming.
I'll give you north bossier being on the up and coming, but to suggest it's now the most desirable area is just patently false.

Took my wife there once about 4 years ago and neither of us were that impressed. Would much rather 2John's if given the choice. Hate to see that it closed, though

The 30k millionaires moved to North Bossier in the cookie cutter $225k neighborhoods with boats parked in the lawns to get away from the blacks.
I don't see many young professionals with goatees and truck nuts so they definitely don't live in Bossier.

You're confusing 'Bossier Parish' with 'Bossier City'. When I use the term 'Bossier' I mean the parish. Nobody rich lives in Bossier City. It's commercial.

Has nothing to do with his statement being true. More young professionals live in south Shreveport than north Bossier. That is just a fact.
And the crime in SH and Broadmoor is petty theft by juveniles. It is an issue. But it isn't anything that would cause me to move...especially not to north Bossier

Back to the OP: I overheard a waiter saying that Jimmy Rossi of Monjuni's owns the whole block and was charging the Cushs only $2k/month in rent. And he just practically gave away the derelict building behind Monjunis to some folks opening a Vegan restaurant (do you capitalize Vegan?). SO, maybe another management group will come along and open The Village back up... Not like the Cushs were the first to own it.

The reality of it is that the Shreveport/Bossier economy took a massive hit around September of last year when the oil money went away. At the same time, more restaurants have opened in the last year than in the last 10 combined. It was only a matter of time before some of the smaller units started closing. I think that makes the 4th or 5th to close now.

I don't know what the price per foot is now. But I do know that the average home price on my street is well over 1/2 Million.

No...Benton, which once had a single-A HS a few years ago and now is building a huge new school which will accommodate 2,000-plus students.
Haughton has some great homes. South Bossier around Lake Bisteneaux.
The line between I-220 North to Benton is now booming. The southern half of that line is technically Bossier City and the north end is Benton. But it's called 'North Bossier' here.
If you live south of I-220 to Barksdale AFB you are in a very commercial area that no upwardly mobile people want to live in.

I don't disagree with much of your last post but it doesn't have much to do with you saying that upwardly mobile young people don't live in Shreveport. South Shreveport, in particular, is booming too and it is full of younger people and more moving there everyday.
There is no doubt that the dip in the O&G industry has a large impact on higher end restaurants in the area. It really is a shame and hopefully Joey is just selling to someone who will re-open with a similar operation.

But Wine Country seems to be thriving. They are moving into Giuseppe's space, which can't be cheap.
and if Benton/North Bossier is so popular among young people, why would El Cabo, who got popular from Benton's Farmer's Market, open his restaurant in south Shreveport...?

I live in South Highlands in a house built in 1928. My in-laws live in one of the first houses built in the neighborhood. Broadmoor has been a decent starter neighborhood since the 1940's. You think those Benton cookie-cutter houses or your half million dollar McMansion will still be nice in 100 years?
I hate getting uppity about Shreveport - it's like someone who went to Tech shitting on ULM's academics - but come on. Besides 2Johns and L'italiano, name another excellent Bossier restaurant. Hell, even Flying Heart can't get their shite right.

No doubt. They also have a much bigger "regular crowd" and have really great management and a great chef. They have needed more room to that place for a few years. But for them to move, Giuseppe's had to close (I know it was more of a retirement thing but still).

You are right. For a couple moving from their first apartment to a starter home it's fine. My first starter home was similar. But when we started having kids I moved to University Terrace. I never considered a Broadmoor because I knew where it was going.

I can't name another because we don't eat out anymore. I have lunch at L'italiano a lot but the wife sleeps days and works nights at WK.
Back to the OP... I went to the Village Grille years ago between marriages (taking dates) and the place was waaay too small to have conversation.
IE, I can hear the talk of the people next to me and they could hear me. I was not impressed. And I also was not impressed with my dates. That's why I didn't marry them.
