IMO, a tell tale sign that a beer is average.. its available in every store you go to, has no limit on the quantity to purchase, and the shelves are fully stocked.

Too mainstream for a cool dude like you.

To be fair to the original poster, I had a fresh Jai Alai (< 2 weeks old) last weekend in Orange Beach. I doubt that Cigar City has changed it, but I just didn't enjoy it very much. 4 years ago, I thought it was really good, but my tastes have changed and now I'm spoiled by the new school IPAs.

Yep way too sweet for me. However Invasion is my favorite PA.

More like a beer noob that tries to act like a snob. Who doesn't check the date before purchasing an IPA?

Don't be jealous that I have a much more refined and far superior palate than you

Jai Alai has always been overrated. Even super fresh, it is still bitter/muddled on the finish. The CCB pale ale is better.

And while people are roasting the OP for his snobbish statement, it is actually pretty true when it comes to hoppy beers where freshness is such a factor.

I like Jai Alai, and I like the regular better than the White Oak version.

However, agree that Invasion is better and is also my favorite/Top 3 favorite Pale Ale.

Agree with the original poster. Had some back in July bought from Wine World in Sandestin and didn't get through half of it. Borderline undrinkable.

I never liked it much, but I don't have a refined palette. I prefer Hop Gun for a Florida IPA. And my favorite is the MIA pale ale lately.

Some fig gave me a can of the white oak and I couldn't finish it. I think it was just my taste buds or maybe said fig pissed in it. He regular one is a tasty brew. It's not special but solid.

You probably got some that weren't overly fresh. That beer seems to nose dive after it's a few weeks old. A two month old taste like dog shite. A two week old one it's pretty great imho

Canned on 7/3/17. I think I purchased on 7/31 or 8/1. Approx a month old. There should be no issue with a month old. I belive the case has been solved... the beer is garbage.

Edit. Ok so I decided to try another one and I have to say that it is much better than the first one. Its actually a decent beer. I wonder if there was an issue with just the one can? I never had an issue where the beer was different b/t cans but damn there is a big difference b/t the second one and the first one I had...

I agree with ut that their pale (invasion) is a better beer

It's possible that you drank something before the jai alai that altered your perceived flavor the first time

I had it my first time this weekend and thought it was a good but not great IPA. I think we are just spoiled now with great beer all over the country.
