I’ve been tossing around the idea to get a Traeger. Looking at the pro 22 and 575...cost is very similar. Any of y’all have experience with either. Pros? Cons? Thoughts and suggestions appreciated.

I've heard that when traeger shipped production to China the quality took a hit. I feel like you can do better. What's the gauge on their lid these days?

Coworker has a rec tec and enjoys it. At the price point I'd be looking at that gravity fed Masterbuilt if set it and forget it is what you're looking for.

I have the Texas Elite. Best $1000 dollars I've sent in a long time. People call Traeger "Tin Cans", but I've never had a problem with mine and it's cooked on at least three time a week.

I'm in the research stage of a pellet grill and I've been stumbling on many different brands. Traeger is the OG by far, selling more pellet grills a year than all other companies combined, but they've also been around for a couple of decades now.

In a similar price range, RecTec gets tons of good reviews, as well as Grilla and Green Mountain Grill. Yoder is highly praised but also 2-3x more expensive than a Traeger.

Based on the research I've done, I think I'm going to end up with a RecTec 590.

Really want to see more reviews come out on this. Looks really, really interesting. I'm suspect on getting much wood smoke by just putting it in the ash box. Seems like you would still get overwhelming charcoal smoke and the wood would not make a difference

if I am buying a new one I would be going Oklahoma Joe and the one they put out that has attachments.

I literally just did this last month, I got the rec Tec 700 (bull). I am not regretting the bigger one at all.

I am very happy with the Rec Tec. I’m sure I would have been happy with the other ones I narrowed down to (camp chef woodwind was what it came down to), pellet grills are great.

Green mt I ruled out because of the distribution not being able to order the one I wanted online and grilla I don’t think had the WiFi but everything I read both brands would be a fine choice.

I had originally ordered a Weber but sent it back before I even put it together because of all the issues.

I looked at the Rec Tec’s but a close friend has one and he hates his. A couple of my friends have the Traeger 22 and they swear it’s the best thing ever. I know, to each their own. They love the pellet grills.
I looked at green eggs and kamado joes, but I just couldn’t scratch that itch.

I just picked up the MB 560. I have not cooked on it yet. I did fire it up to do the pre-season. For people looking to get something made out of the best materials available, this isn't for you. For someone looking to get something worth $500 and enjoy the ease of use and ability to get good flavor, then I would recommend it. I know there is a coupon code floating around for $75 off at ace hardware.

ETA....If it lasts five years, then I feel I would have gotten my money's worth. $100 a year to have a grill/smoker that does as much as it does and then also gives me time to spend with family or do other things is well worth it to me.

I'm really curious why he hates his RecTec. I'm in the pre-purchase stage and that goes against pretty much everything I've read and heard.

Masterbuilt gravity feed updated the shipping, it will be here tomorrow. Now I just need to decide what to cook on the maiden voyage.

I had a traeger before my Rec Tec. There is no comparison. Not in quality, smoke output, heat retention, temperature control, or customer service. Only thing I would consider over my Rec Tec is a Yoder. Big price difference

I’m in the same situation as you. I gave the GMG a hard look. It’s a great deal, but I’ve read a lot of posts on FB about people having trouble out of grills that are less than a month old. I don’t want to be on the phone with their service dept about a grill that’s a month old, when I spent $700 on it. I’ve decided that, like you, I will go with the RT 590. My neighbor as a RecTec that’s 3-4 years old and he loves it.
