They’re opening up TW on Hwy 22 next to Fresh Market. Acquistipace’s will have a tough time competing with those prices.

It seems like I stop at the one in Metairie every time I drive down Vets which is often.

Acquistipace's will be ok. No shortage of winos and drunkards in this town.

What is meh referring to? The prices I assume?
Go search for wines you typically buy at Acquistipace’s on their app. Most of them are significant

I always thought Acquistipaces had great prices. I know on their bourbon they have historically been at retail prices - don't see how Total Wine can go much lower?

Total likes to loss lead, but I think that's illegal in Louisiana.

For all the bad they do in the alcohol world, their prices are very hard to beat. It takes a strong local brand with deep pockets and loyal customers. Total has a big selection, but usually the strong local places will have harder to find stuff.

Of course TW has great pricing. I went to the one in Metairie last week.
I just think Acquistipace will be ok. Lot's of people like the small store feel and like supporting the local places.

This. There's also a nonzero amount of local residents that live East of HWY 190 that don't want to deal w/ crossing over Causeway blvd bc of the traffic in that area.

TW should do well with people stopping on the way to NOLA from the interstate tho.

And if someone is planning a big party or something like New Years Eve, etc it's worth the cost savings to visit TW.

I live very close to Martin Wine Cellar in Metairie, and I've been there four times since my last TW visit.
Plus the convenience of having your groceries, cheese, etc at a place like Acquisitipace makes it an easy choice for a lot of people.

Acquistapace is far superior IMO. Their wines have always been on par as far as pricing. Bourbons are usually at retail as well. Their cheese selection is awesome and well priced.

And I bet they have better wine people as a whole than TW and will also be better with guiding customers to the correct wines

When will then be now?

Louisiana has a minimum markup law on alcohol which affects Total's ability to do loss leaders.

I know when the total wine in the Houston heights area opened up, they had some really good deals like 1.75L of Tito's for $21.99.

Acq is not just at retail with bourbons but actually below on quite a few of them. Dorignacs is always more expensive on their selections. And I find Acq wine prices to be very nice. If TW really is cheaper than Acq then I can't imagine it being by any significant enough margin to force loyal customers like me to switch to them. Acq has been a fantastic store that I love going to for years now due to their wonderful, knowledgeable staff and great selections to go along with their low prices.

TW can piss off.

I went to TW Metairie on opening weekend and my go-to Cabernet was $22.49 there. I went to Aquistipace's Wine & Cheese this past weekend and my go-to Cabernet was $21 there.

In this case, buy local.

There is an Acquistapaces liquor store (not grocery) in Mandeville 3.0 miles away. Gulf Coast is 3.4 miles away. Martin’s 3.2 miles.

It’s not far away from the smaller Acquistapaces on causeway approach

They’ve started doing virtual wine and cheese tastings which are great. I think they’re Thursday nights and like $80 for 4 bottles of wine and a cheese platter.
