If none of you have been to Emeril's, its a fine place to go. I've had nothing but excellent meals there.
You might want to look at the Dining Guide. It's set up by location.

Lots of good recommendations. Now the problem will be to narrow it down to one

Yep that's your biggest problem.

I still like Bayona for a quieter and intimate dinner with family. Personable with understated elegance. Location is convenient to FQ. Too bad it's not warmer spring weather because the patio dining makes it even better.

Le Foret in the warehouse district.
Wife and I had dinner there and were dressed casual. Very nice place! I highly recommend it.

I wouldn't consider Foret casual...at all. It's fancy.

I really think Herbsaint is the choice. It's right on St. Charles in the Warehouse/CBD. If you spend part of the day in the Garden District or the quarter, you can catch the street car and get dropped off right in front.
The restaurant is both delicious and attractive. The service is generally excellent, and accommodating to travelers wardrobes.

I was in Bayonna a few months back and there was a guy in a t-shirt and cargo shorts. IMO, that is lowering the dress code too far.

What about that new Revolution restaurant? It hasn't been mentioned yet. Is it too fancy/pricey? Or is it just not that great?

I wouldn't advise him to go there for this kind of meal. Seems to be way to pricey/fancy. I keep hearing mixed reviews about it.

Try NOLA in the FQ. Its one of Emeril's restaurants. Great atmosphere, and nice food.

I'm going on Saturday. No worries I'll be in slacks and a sports coat. Maybe even a tie. Try and class up this world a little at a time.
