Samuel's is located in Industriplex... great lunches, big portions, cheap prices. Open only at lunchtime M-F.

I can vouch for Samuels... I ate lunches there all the time. Huge portions of soul food, really cheap. I was sooo unproductive in the afternoon due to those huge lunches.

Depends on the food. For seafood and creole cooking, you're right. But I haven't eaten Italian in NOLA that comes near Gino's, Ruffino's or the Little Village.

I hate to disagree with you, but have you tried Tony Angelo's in NO? Once again- superior to BR Italian. I do agree that Gino's and DiGuilio's are very good though.

I don't really have much experience with Mediterranian comparisons with NO vs. BR.

I can't believe so many people are so hot on Gino's. I've eaten there 3 times and walked away unimpressed every time. Plus, their veal marsala is the worst I've ever had. I'd put Diguilio Bros. and Pinetta's way above Gino's.

I can tell you that no matter how miserable you think the culinary scene is in BR its lightyears ahead of the situation in Mobile; be thankful! What i would give right now to be eating lunch in BR..

Ever been to 1179 or Lebanon's on Carrollton?

Before their chef died, it was incredible. I'd put it ahead of Ginos then.

Since then, not so much. Very inconsistent.

As a person who personally knows Mr. Tony, I can assure that neither he, nor anyone associated with that restaurant, has any idea wtf TD.com is.

different strokes for different folks i guess. Only tried the "feed me" when i went, but again, thought it was good, but not great by any means.

I can't remember. He had a tiny place on Dauphine back in the late 80's early 90's that was fricking great. I had grilled quail with polenta that I still think about.
