Picked-up some at Rouses recently. Very good product; well worth trying.

IMO, supplants New Orleans Smoked Sausage as the best mass-marketed smoked sausage.

My go-to has been Savoie's if I don't have any real andouille from Bailey's. Second alternative is Richards.

So, how does Tony's compare to either of them, or have you even tried the other 2????

There's a Rouses less than a mile from my house and between it and Costco, I don't usually shop anywhere else as far as supermarkets go.

Haven't had Savoie's in a long time but have tried it. It was ok IMO. I thought Richards was better but neither as good as Tony's (talkin' food so just an opinion).

Have tried the andouille from one of the places in LaPlace (Right off Airline. There were two side-by-side - the one on the left if facing them). Good product but only a little better than Tony's.

Hope this helps.

Those 2 places are Bailey's in the little strip shopping center and the one all by itself if Jacob's and I'm pretty sure that's the one you're talking about.

Never tried Jacob's andouille before.

I'll pick some Tony's up tomorrow and use it to cook down some collards I picked today. I have a huge pot of cut up collards that will cook down to a little more than a half gallons worth.

The only thing that Richards and Savois Sausage is good for is crawfish boils. Otherwise, they are not good sausage. I can’t even taste the smoke.

So what is the thought process of getting that one over the others at Rouses, like Veron smoked sausage.

Just hadn't tried it before. Saw where Zatarain's is also marketing a smoked sausage. May try it soon as well.

FTR, Rabideaux's is my gold standard. Crack for carnivores.

Truth. This is the only sausage that I buy from a grocery store. I will always buy from a butcher/smokehouse if available. Rabideauxs is amazing.

I agree. Read the label of ingredients on both they them. They're both glorified hot dogs.

My go-to is the hot pork sausage from Benoit's down in Addis. Stuff is dynamite in jambalaya! Next is the Conecuh sausage (from Alabama) that I found at Oak Point. All of these in the Baton Rouge area, but Benoits Country Meat Block is online and will ship.

Never had it. We buy sausage from Ivertines a lot too. Obviously can't get it at the store. It's expensive but I love that place

That's what I use when I dont any have good stuff on hand.

My favorite smoked sausage is from Verons Supermarket followed closely by Don's in Reserve.

I’m disappointed in every sausage that’s not Teet’s.
