I wish more bars and breweries would implement a leash law for small children.
I would be all for that. At least then people wouldn't look at me funny when little man is leashed to the table.

Yes, because there's nothing that says good parenting like bringing kids to a bar while the adults imbibe in alcoholic beverages, and then drive home afterward.
If I'm going out for a few beers, I don't want kids within eye distance from me.
Then maybe stop going to breweries that intentionally market to suburban families?
Maybe try a bar? Or a place without a 7 foot basketball goal, bouncy house, and root beer offerings. There are plenty of 21 and up establishments in ant descent town. And the brewery owners have every right to make their establishment the same. Yet, most dont.
The brewery is obviously reaching their target demographic. If that bothers you, tell them by not patronizing.

Right. There are two breweries close to me that have kids play areas, they are quite obviously aiming to get families in the door. Fortunately one of them also has a nice lineup of hazy IPAs.

But, also, why should it matter that kids are there?
I picture a brewery as a bar. Thats a place kids shouldnt be.
When you have a crowded brewery with things like a bouncy house, the kids are never all behaved. Youre encouraging kids to act like maniacs with bouncy houses. Add in the parents treating it like a daycare and its not a place I want to be.

How much is it really different than your average Mexican restaurant serving 2 for 1 house margaritas on any given Friday night? Or any restaurant with a bar?
There are those that drink responsibly and know how to control their children, and those that dont. It's understandable that you dont want the latter around you while you enjoy a drink. I really dont either. But you shouldn't expect the former to avoid places that openly market to them because the lowest common denominator annoys you.
That loud, annoying single guy at a bar/brewery isnt an uncommon occurence either.

I disagree with this. They can get away with it now, but when there are 4-6 breweries in BR, they'll need to start pumping out "world class" beer. I don't understand any brewery who wouldn't be trying to make every beer they make "world class".
There are more than 7000 breweries in the US. Not all of them make top-rated rated beers.

I just took my three month old to his first brewery last weekend. I'll take him to more as long as the brewery says kids are welcome there. I'm not sorry if that offends you.

It doesn't offend me
I just go elsewhere

Man, this thread really got off topic.

Do you immediately tab out after you finish current beer or what? If going to another brewery and see a kid, do you get back in the car and drive off? Just trying to understand

Voodoo is better than Envie
I agree with this. I think Envie gets somewhat of a free pass because of how good Bloom, GITM, and other Parish beers are. For me Envie is behind Voodoo, Jucifer and Holy Roller

Well to the point that breweries need to make quality beer, then i still maintain they do. Or else you become one of the ever growing statistics of breweries that fail because they make "meh" beer. Again, Louisiana lags behind the rest of the country, but with more new breweries starting, the wheat will soon be separated from the chaff.
Now to the point that i believe every brewery should be trying to make world class beer, i maintain that should be the focus of every brewery. I know that not all do, but if you aren't trying to make the best, why even start a brewery?

Envie started falling off around the time they started canning it in Florida. Not sure why, but something changed with that beer. I haven't bought it in over a year. I may pick up 1 after work and see if it's returned to it's former glory.

I don't mind the kids until they start screaming or run into me. I've learned to tune children out. But having them at a brewery doesn't bother me. Just be prepared for language, don't get offended if I curse, that type of thing for the parents.
I don't see kids at Olive or Twist or Overpass for the most part and children don't seem to sit in the bar area at Chimes. Then we still have other places like the Bulldog.

I went to Urban South the other day and the place was like that movie Daddy Day Care. It peaked when one of the little terrors clotheslined herself trying to run under a stanchion. I left after one beer because the presumed parents gave me a dirty look for laughing.

You’re dead on, Bug.
End of 2017/beginning of 2018, Envie was my go-to at any bar that only had a small craft offering. Put other Hazy Pales in LA to shame.
Holly Roller is better now. Voodoo on draft, too.
I’m about to post in the Homebrew Thread directed @ you, btw.

If it's a bunch of kids, I'll leave after 1 beer.
There arent many breweries here. Tin roof caters to families, so I rarely go and I've never suggested to go there.

I think I saw this same kid discussion on FB a few days ago. And Urban South is the worst. The blame is less on the kids than the parents that think it’s cute when little Johnny goes climbing over the top of the table I’m sitting at, or crashes into someone carrying a flight of beer, doing nothing to control them, in fact, more often than not, are completely ignoring them while they run amuck. Guessing these are the same shitty parents that started the participation trophy movement.

This isn't really that hard to understand.
I enjoy beer
I enjoy breweries
I love my kid and spending time with him
=
I bring him to breweries
Granted he's only 9 months old so he won't be causing too much commotion yet.
