I know. Its a damn shame that one can’t learn more about beer and develop a better palate. I’m just going to be stuck liking Abita circa 2008 my entire life.

This is very true... but the current Tin Roof and this new venture in Raleigh are going to have nothing in common other than the pockets being lined.

I'm guessing in that area the "new line" will be more of what they have been doing lately, which I actually enjoy

Right. My only concern for them, as a total non-expert, would be the level of saturation with craft beers in NC. Every small to medium sized city there has multiple craft breweries with tap rooms, etc. But what do I know?

As someone who just moved to the Raleigh area, I welcome a little taste of "home"...

i'll take a picture next time i go to the store of all the local beer that is available here. asheville is worse. if you ask me the market is saturated. and they have some damn good choices here too.

That's all relative... they've always done very well with the average craft beer drinker in the state.

they did well with people who needed mediocre beer in cans...its also probably easier to like them if you don't have to buy nearly as much as someone on the outside would...based on other comments in this thread, I was right to not enjoy them all those years ago..As I said though they've clearly turned a corner in the JT era and are picking up those of us that easily looked past them

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, just saying that "rough times" is all relative, because they were always financially doing very well.
They have definitely turned a corner and are picking up a lot of new fans in the process. And probably losing some as well by discontinuing the Perfect Tin and Turnrow and old Voodoo Bengal.
I remember when Juke Joint was switched over to Juke Joint 2.0 plenty of the taproom regulars were not fans of the change. More people though were very happy with it.

Just my observations from the times I've been there and tried their stuff, along with the things I've read on here.
My opinion is that their beer is ok, not good not great. They seem to put out a decent one every now and then, but when I've gone to get flights I haven't been a huge fan. Now, trying to expand in a market with a much larger number of competitors, I worry they might be spreading themselves too thin. That's it.
My goodness someone got their panties in a wad in a hurry.
