I have a lavatools javelin, i've been using for about 10 years now, and works great. They're listed at $27 right now on amazon. Is there a big jump up in quality with thermapen?

I have the same one currently. I'll bump this thread in a few days to give you an update if you want.

My understanding is that it gets to the true temperature much faster and is more accurate (I've noticed a discrepency of up to 5 degrees internal between my maverick probe thermometer and my Lavatools Javelin). My Javelin is about 10 years old though as well.

I wonder how long it is going to be on sale? I just sent in my Signals and a Thermopop for warranty work. This is the 2nd time I have had to send my Signals in in less than a year.

The first go round they replaced it no questions asked but I was disappointed they couldn’t tell me what the issue was with the 1st one when I called about the new unit doing the exact same thing.

I have been a big fan of ThermoWorks and have talked them up a lot in the past. I really want to see how they handle this before I get any deeper with them.

I have always read that what makes this so special is that it gives you the accurate temp in half a second. So your hand isn't over the fire for long when cooking steaks. For regular applications like just measuring a temp where you are not in the line of fire probably isnt a big difference.

but it is known as the GOAT. why not get one. Its all you see Brulosphy use.

Thanks. Ordered one for each of my children.

I already had one from the last sale like this. Love it. Nice step up from my Thermopop.

Just wanted to say that I’ve been using mine for everything since we bought it. If you cook regularly, this is a MUST HAVE ITEM.

The sale is still going on btw.

I agree, its a really great tool. Giving my javelin to my friend that overcooks his meat.

He actually asked the model of the one I was using, but told him I'd give him my old one. Said he was tired of eating dry meat .
