I wasn't aware disagreement necessarily equated to criticism. Sorry you're so sensitive, but any list of the best 10 FQ restaurants that doesn't include Galatoire's or Bayona was going to elicit that-- which I'm quite certain you knew.

Bayona's I could see. It was #11 in my mental list. Galatoire's isn't top 20 in the French Quarter.

It's certainly no Gumbo Shop.

I've been to Galatoire's well over a hundred times in my life, and I agree with your statement 100%.

I can only speak to the FQ restaurants at which I have dined. My list is roughly this:

10) Coop's Place
9) Old Coffee Pot
8) Bennachin
7) Galatoire's
6) Le Meritage
5) Arnaud's
4) Iris
3) Morton's - that FQ?
2) Stella!
1) Bayona

I think Tulane is right to an extent about galatoires. The food is mediocre. And for the price, I'd put it below par. I've been serveral times, and everytime I walked out somewhat disappointed...in the food.

But the service is always top notch, and the overall dining experience is second to none. Just depends on what you value I guess. I've never had more fun at a restuarant than at a 4 hour Friday lunch at galatoires. But I haven't ever walked away impressed with the food. Anyone can cook a nice piece of fish and top it with lump crab meat.

To not have Galatoire's, Antoine's, Bayona or Le Meritage is beyond laughable.

The Gumbo Shop? For frick's sake man...

Seems like the best basis to judge a restaurant to me.

why have you been to a restaurant over 100 times that isnt even a top 20 restaurant in a 12 block radius?

Yeah, you're probably right, the food at galatoire's just isn't impressive.

I'm mostly trying to stick up for Tulane. I appreciate the effort he puts into these posts, and they always generate some good discussion.

To TulaneLSU.

Oh, and to the most recent iteration of the top 10, August is in the CBD. Otherwise it should be #1 on the FQ list.

LOL to lucky dog at #1.

I seriously doubt the veracity of this. TulaneLSU seems prone to hyperbole.

If it's true, then he should start posting these threads over with the OT ballaz.

From as early as I can remember, my family would take me to Galatoire's once a month, and for special occasions. When years turn into decades and traditions continue, it's surprising how a number can grow.

This thinking has failed me on so many different occasions its almost shameful.

Okay, so you say you have been to Galatoire's "well over a hundred times in your life." So you have been at the minimum 12 times per year for the past 8 years? How old are you again?

Must be the oldest college student in the world. Explains his deep world view though, I bet you learn a lot in 96 years (sorry, at least 96, since he said "well over 100") of life.

Seriously, at some point wouldnt you have told your family that there are "at least" 20 other FQ restaurants you would rather have a special occasion dinner at than Galatoire's? Such as Gumbo shop, and probably Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville

I'm more intrigued with him going to Stella 13 times. That's a lot of cash money. Then add the 100s of trips to Galatoire's...dude must be rolling in it.
