Bump for a family group needing best recommendation between Hobby and Galveston. I know the usual spots in Houston proper but not between these two points. Dinner tomorrow after 6:00 PM

Appreciate the feedback a lot

There is an El Tiempo in Webster off 45…if it were me, I’d make reservations at Pier 6 in San Leon or just eat in Galveston at Katie’s or BLVD Seafood.

As other have said and especially if you've never been, El Tiempo is the answer.

But honestly, you could throw a rock in any direction and hit a decent Tex-mex place in Houston.

Not a Houston native but we’ve had good meals at Chuy’s when we’ve been.

I know a few people who have ended up with their head in a toilet after eating there, including me. Worst experience of my life, and alcohol wasn't involved.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Houston is Hugo’s. The duck with the mole’ poblano sauce is delicious.
I consider that more upscale Mexican rather than Tex Mex but that is where I like to go.

El Tiempo on Richmond Ave. Cyclone's Anaya

They're good, but somehow, I've always made Cyclone Anaya's more of a drinking place than eating place. They have great margs.

Every Houston family has the go-to neighborhood place they find the comfort food at a better price than the long term players, but if you are in town, the little extra for the El Tiempo experience is well worth it IMHO.

This is the truth here. It's special occasion Mexican. Then there's the neighborhood joint where you always run into someone you know and the local school's families are there after every game. Those neighborhood places are pretty darn good, just not as impressive.

Look, you can shite on Pappa’s family of restaurants all you want, but they are consistently decent to good.

Little Papasito’s on Kirby has completely revamped their menu…and Little’s Oyster Bar on Shepherd is one of the best restaurants in the city.
