I wonder if I'll ever understand this.

Perhaps it was a stock and not a broth, but the complexity of flavor was out of this world. Ginger, a bit of heat on the back end, fish sauce, shrimp. It had likely been cooking for hours...if not days.

Siena is my favorite city in Italy. The Palio is an interesting event. To op if I'm really craving oysters on the half shell those first few may just make my eyes roll back in my head.

Just up the road from your favorite Popeyes, there used to be Catahoula's.

For a while, they had a lobster dish that was to die for:

A 4 lb whole lobster, cut open lengthwise, served open (cut) side up, very generously topped with shrimp and lump crabmeat, and what I think was a remoulade sauce. The claws were shelled for you, perfectly, and the meat lie there like a catcher's mit.

Flat price of $50, and was worth it.

It could easily have become their signature dish.

John eventually took it off the menu due to low demand at that price point and the hassle of fresh lobster supply minimum orders.

Merriman's in Maui. Our table of 10 or so ordered a bunch of different plates from steak to fish to lobster and we just passed them around. Best food I've ever eaten.
