They're still open, but there's a couple of FOR LEASE signs up.

Are there any left that are 24 hour? Castle burgers and fries at 4am really hit the spot.

That place was hoping when I lived there, and I left in ‘84.

Last time we were in there, years ago, one of the counter old ladies and one of the donut guys got into an F bomb shouting match because he was playing his rap music too loud. Place really went down hill…
We usually hit Bakers Dozen on Jefferson.

Started going down hill when Krispy Kreme opened across the street.

back in the day ... early 80's, I remember the TD on Vets and Green Acres. Supposed it closed years ago.
As a kid in the 70's, we got donuts from Coopers Bakery near Come Back Inn and the Buy-A-Pak (W. Metairie and Trudeau). The Coopers moved to Amite and still operate their bakery and sell chocolate men

the chinese or cambodians or whatever are taking over the donut game and make absolutely terrible donuts.

what are the current donut prices in your area ? $12.00 / dozen in Lafayette which is crazy. Seems like a doz. donuts were $5.99 pre-Covid. It's all relative regarding high prices and the food industry.

And yet you can still get the same great pizza deals for under $12 from Papa Johns and Domino’s as you did 20 years ago.
It makes zero sense.
