Even Sysco is getting into direct sales these days: 5/8, 10 am - 3 pm at the Harahan location on River Oaks. If your household needs 200 chicken nuggets, or 12 lbs of corn n crab bisque, now’s your chance. Check out the Sysco N.O. Facebook page for a list of items.

Why? It's a pretty shitty price for steaks if you break that out.

Sort of enlightening to know that’s a product being sold ready made to restaurants.

yeah, $25/lb for frozen prime steaks. How is that a deal? Prime ribeyes and strips are ~$13 at Costco and filets usually right under $20.

“Country Pleasing Sausage” sounds like a 80’s porno movie.

exactly and I wasnt even mentioning the frozen part. They are also probably really shitty looking cuts given that its Sysco. All of this sounds like an absolute ripoff to cater to idiots

Friend,

Those are prices are way too high. Over $4 a pound for Hormel bacon? I can get it around $3 per pound at Sams and I don’t have to buy 15 pounds. Only bad shoppers will buy from them.

If I had a chance, I'd get the box of burgers. I liked the burgers we used to cook from sysco and these are the 1/2 lb burgers at 3.33/lb which is cheaper than I can get ground beef now at my store. That's about it though. And yeah, I'm sure this is their rape them all price. They have tiered pricing so nobody knows what anyone else is paying, but I'm sure this is the top tier that no restaurant gets unless they don't want to deal with them ever again.

Probably 90% of the soups sold in restaurants come from the distributors pre-made. It's one of the few items that I think is good done this way.

Seems dubious.

Why would you think so?

Because I’ve had some damn good soups that came from the mikes of Sysco.
Soups hold up well to being frozen.

Soups, desserts, and salad dressings are the most likely Sysco products found at mid/modest tier restaurants. While I’m no huge fan of industrial food, quite a few of their desserts are better than what most places could pull off on their own.

Oh, I have no doubt that a good number of such places will use premade soups, among other things. It was that "more than 90%" number I took issue with.

Maybe, but I'm including chain restaurants with my 90%. Doubt many do their own soups.
