You're shitting me. Any place that charges almost $20 for a fricking hamburger needs to go out of business. Anyone who pays that needs to buy this bridge in Hammond I am selling

We ordered take out for 9 (my mom, husband, kids and I) the other day from Five Guys - no drinks

Can you loan me some money so I can pay my neighbor back?

I haven’t been to Superior in years - but I find their prices went up a few years ago compared to what you received. The one in NOLA was delicious, the BR one is meh.

Complain about their prices all you want, but this is silly.

First off, you can see them making the grilled items in front of you if you just look through the glass. They are not pre-cooked. They hit the grill raw.

Secondly, if you think other restaurants don’t pre-cook items that obviously can’t be made to order, you are maybe not versed in how those foods are made.

Lasagna, gumbo, enchiladas, twice baked potatoes or any sort of baked potato, bread pudding, cake, Mac and cheese, etc etc all are very long cook time items. Every restaurant on the planet pre-makes their non-grilled and non-fried items because customers tend to not want to wait the whole 1.5+ hours it takes to cook from scratch

Do you think La Carreta is making you a special one-person pan of enchiladas from raw in the oven?

How is it weird? A thread was started about it and I’m merely asking when people noticed them being expensive.

I’m not here to defend Superior, but having lived in TX for 6 years, La Carreta sucks.

That’s all I got.

Idk but the food is just as good if not better, as well as much cheaper so I chose to go there instead of somewhere like Superior Grill where you are essentially paying for the "experience" of being there

I find them to be overpriced for the quality of the food. I find it somewhat bland. Los Reyes is much better in my opinion. However, they have a really good atmosphere and bar area.

Also the prices on all menu items have gone way up. A hamburger is about $18 now All of their menu items have gone up considerably. It’s getting to be cost prohibitive.

They have 30 minute waits for dinner Th-Sat and the same for brunch on the weekends. Obviously it is not cost prohibitive, otherwise there would be no wait. You may think their prices are too high, but there is a segment of consumers that disagree. Maybe you aren't their target market.

Sure. I don’t expect it to be as good as the best places here, but I just don’t even find it very good in general. If you like it, keep going.

That’s a totally legitimate POV, but you can’t just make a claim that a business is serving people old/gross food because you personally like somewhere else better. Superior has one of the most transparent Mexi kitchens in town with the tortilla ladies being behind glass where you’re encouraged to watch, and the kitchen open view behind them.

Ninfas had a similar setup in the 90’s.

SG is one of my least liked places no matter what city. C'mon, if you don't think their food is crap you have never had good Tex-Mex. Noisy, overcrowded, crap to eat, it's for the fast food crowd when they want to get fancy.

I can find many better TexMex places in BR, and BR is not a good TexMex city.

Has anyone else noticed that the Superior Grill margaritas do not have as much alcohol in them?

I had this exact discussion with my wife last week. Two large frozen during happy hour used to get me drunk...I had 3 last weekend and barely had a buzz. Very disappointing.

To each his own...but the last 2 times I went to Los Reyes it was terrible. Food, service, everything.

Khalid needs to tighten things up over there for sure.

I live right by there on Highland, the kitchen is up and roaring before 8am on most days. This is what they did at the old Govt location, cook the food before the rush and reheat everything. Govt location was never that good but always packed. With SG you are paying a premium to eat reheated shitty food bc of the "experience." Most Tex Mex in town is better than SG, La Carreta is my example bc its right down the street from highland SG and much better/cheaper. Thats cool you can watch the ladies make tortillas tho at SG
