Superbowl LV @10 days away - my menu and comments

Superbowl LV (55) coming up on Sunday Feb 7th. Tampa Bay vs Kansas City, I don't have a dog in this hunt so I'll just lay back and watch and enjoy.
This year I WILL NOT be attending any SB parties or hosting a gathering at my home. My mindset is that I don't have a clue who is telling the truth or what the truth is regarding Covid 19 virus, but I'm not going to take any chances, but that's where I am. So, total about 6 to 8 people including kids.
The game time is 5:30pm and the projected forecast temperature for BR around 44 Degrees (no rain) - so I'm fixing my version of Wendy's chili, hotdogs with fixings, french fries (I'll cook in my big daddy fryer), cold beer, wine, and for dessert chocolate coca cola sheet cake with Tillamook Vanilla ice cream.
Almost everything can be made ahead of time so it should be a relaxed and enjoyable couple of hours.

Seems pretty chill but a thread saying you are having hotdogs and chili for your SB “menu” doesn’t seem thread worthy. This better be some baller chili.

That's probably true, but after recalling some of the threads/posts from the past year or so I realized the bar for posting is some cases is pretty low so I thought what the hell go for it.

I bought a mini-sack of oysters the weekend the Saints got beat by the Bucs and will do the same for the Super Bowl.
I'll open them and grill a few dozen before the game starts and I'll jump in the kitchen for halftime and fry up a bunch for some oyster po-boys.
They were excellent the last sack I got and I'm sure they will be the same on Super Bowl Sunday.

Well I’m one of those guys that quit watching the NFL- some because of their crap but mostly because I just got bored with it. My football interest has wained as I get older-I just have to many other things and this goes way back before the black panther parties or whatever.
That said I’m all about a good chili dog party. One of my neighbors wanted to have a chili dog party several years ago and it was one of the best I’ve partaken in. I bet we made 200 chili dogs and they all got devoured. So did the booze.
So post pics of said dogs.
Since I have to eat anyway my non football party will be maybe a good rabbit or turtle sauce picaunte because I have both in the freezer and have had an envie for either.
And while you ain’t gonna win any awards I’ve seen worse threads on this board.

Martini,
You hit the nail on the head. I’m not anti football but outside of LSU and Saints, I dont really care anymore. However the other week I fried some dry brined wings and then tossed in Szechuan peppercorns and dried chiles with some other stuff. They were incredible. So probably doing that.

Tillamook makes ice cream? Yes and it's good. I've bought it at Sprout's on Perkins Rd., Albertson's, and Calandro's but it goes fast the selection is sometimes limited.
Also I've never had Coca Cola cake. Details???
This is a Southern Classic I've been enjoying for many years.
Chocolate Coca Cola Cake - Serves 10 to 12
2 cups AP flour
2 cups sugar
2 stick margarine or butter
4 TBL cocoa powder (heaping)
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda (add to buttermilk)
2 eggs beaten
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups miniature marshmallows (optional)
1. Combine flour & sugar in a bowl and set aside.
2. Heat margarine or butter, cocoa and coke until it comes to a boil & pour into the flour mixture
3. Add buttermilk (w/baking soda), eggs, vanilla, salt, and marshmallows (if using) and mix well.
4. Pour into a greased 9"x13" baking pan or a greased 10"x15" sheet pan.
5. Bake at 350 deg for 45 - 50 minutes, or until done (toothpick test). Set cake aside and make Icing
Icing
1/2 cup margarine or butter
4 TBL cocoa powder
6 TBL coke cola or buttermilk
1 16 oz. box powdered sugar
1 to 2 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped pecans
1. Bring margarine or butter, cocoa, and coke to a boil. Pour over powdered sugar and mix well. Add nuts and vanilla.
2. Pour over "warm cake" and let cool before serving.
(I let the cake cool for about 20 minutes before pouring the icing over the cake)

Superbowl Sunday I'll probably go crabbing and try to catch me some crabs to boil.

We will give it a cursory watch and also make fun of the commercials and half time show. 6-8 people max. Charcuterie has been requested so I will do a huge board. Probably going to pick up a honey baked ham and some rolls also in case someone wants a sandwich.

We are going crockpot queso (of course), stuffed grilled jalapeños, blackened chicken breast, shrimp kabobs, grilled veggie kabobs, and sweet corn pasta salad
