Unless you're doing Korean BBQ

Ugh, it's too damn difficult to do it right anyways. Just find a decent Korean place for good bulgolgi. I know I know they're hard to come across but you will never get the right ingredients to do it right. Trust me, you want it done right if you've never had Korean food.

why would you even consider marinating a ribeye? Salt, pepper and garlic - maybe some steak seasoning - that's all you need

Ribeye is the one steak you dont have to marinate. Like others said. Sprinkle with salt. You'll see the moisture accumulate on top and gradually sink back in.

I rarely ever marinate a steak of any kind other than a skirt steak.

I once cooked 20 lbs of short ribs for a kroean friend's birthday. I used store bought Korean BBQ and it was fine. His dad and step mom (both from Korea) both approved.

Allowing a steak especially a thick one to get to room temp allows for an even cook on the meat
