Awesome to see a chef of that caliber, that has won so many awards, get back at it, and open a more casual, accessible place.
A LITTLE surprised that its the Rue 127 spot. I love the location, but it is a small venue with no parking. Still, AWESOME news.

For the last two years, one of New Orleans' most talented and celebrated chefs has not been cooking at a restaurant. That will change when James Beard Award-winning chef Sue Zemanick opens her first restaurant on Carrollton Avenue near Canal Street.
The restaurant will take over the building at 127 N. Carrollton Avenue that most recently housed Rue 127, which closed in early June. Zemanick was not yet willing to reveal her new restaurant's name.

Although Zemanick is still developing the menu for her unnamed restaurant, she made it clear that it won't be a radical departure from her cooking at Gautreau's. Seafood, she said, will predominate.
"It's going to be an upscale neighborhood restaurant," she said.
The prices, by design, will be lower than at Gautreau's.
"I wanted to do what I was doing in the past, but at a more accessible level so that my friends can come and eat there on a regular basis," she said.

Nice! Hopefully she can survive that location. Any idea when it might open?

Just have the roasted chicken and I'm there. Great news.

Awesome news. Loved Rue 127 so happy to see a great new place coming into that spot. And the parking is not bad. Probably better than any restaurant on Magazine St w/o its own lot. I usually park just around the corner.

I saw that last night and it's great news. It will be hard to get into her restaurant when it initially opens.Looking forward to seeing her menu and hearing more about it.

This is fantastic news and right around the corner. Rue 127 lasted for years so my bet is that she makes it.

Will likely be the most difficult reservation to get in town for a few months.

Well, look how long Venezia has been in business right across the street, and they have no designated parking lot, although many of their customers use the Walgreen's lot in the same block.
There's the Capital One Bank right on the corner of that side of the street and they don't lock their gates at night that I'm aware of, so there's that bit of parking space. I bank there and haven't seen any signage in the parking lot that states offenders will be booted or towed.
