Wifes's (no pics) family would brown ground meat and mix in a can of pork and beans.

Couple of scoops of peanut butter, stir in Steens cane syrup until creamy and spread on white bread

This is what my dad would feed three hungry boys an hour after dinner. Large family of 8 so dinner was always one plate.

Is that all it was or did they use onions & seasonings?
I love pork & beans with meat in them, I wish I could duplicate how my Grandma did them but I’m missing something

When we had nothing in the house, my dad would make a roux, with the trinity. Add a little water and peel and dice potatoes. Add that, and if we had it, chop up hot dogs for the meat. Serve over rice.

He called it potato stew.

Pork & beans seasoned up with ground meat (sometimes I do Jimmy Dean sausage) is good

My Grandma used to go to Little Caesar’s & buy a ball of dough
Roll it out at home, throw on a can of sardines & cover it in sliced onions
My Pops called it sardine pie
There was no sauce or cheese, just dough, sardines & onions from what I remember

Sounds goo, I’d eat it

Tuna noodle salad, it was canned tuna, macaroni noodles, miracle whip, frozen peas and tony's in it, served cold.

No onions, no eggs, not even real mayo

I can remember sitting at the table with a now room temperature scoop of it, tears in my eyes, not allowed to get up until I finished.

I've come a long way on tuna since then, the McConaughey tuna salad, adding noodles would probably actually be good.

Spent a lot of time at my Maw Maw's when I was a child. For breakfast, she would always serve me coffee milk and crackers. I remember really liking it.

Maybe this weekend I might whip up a batch and see how it is.

Not a food that we cooked, but I had my share of the store-bought Space Food Sticks:

Homemade Peanut Butter Space Food Sticks

1 cup crunchy or smooth peanut butter
1 cup dry powdered milk
1/2 cup honey (or light corn syrup)
2 tablespoons wheat germ
2 tablespoons (or 2 packages) unflavored gelatin
1/2 teaspoon salt

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients: powdered milk, wheat germ, gelatin, and salt.

Add the peanut butter and honey to the dry ingredients.

Mix thoroughly until the mixture forms a stiff dough. This may require kneading with your hands to fully incorporate all ingredients.

Shape the dough into logs or "space sticks."

Store the sticks in a plastic-covered dish at room temperature. They do not require chilling.
