Been living in the area a while and tried multiple restaurants over my time here but never been able to find quality Southern Italian on par with what I have had in BR & NO.

Anyone have any recs?

I don’t know what exactly qualifies as “southern Italian” food.

But if you’re looking for delicious Italian food, DaVinci on South Fry is Katy is worth trying, especially if you’re already on the west end of Houston.

I would describe Southern Italian as the more traditional Sicilian Italian we are accustomed to around BR and NO. Lots of semi sweet ands savory red gravies. Restaurants like Ginos in BR and Pascals or Liuzzas in NO. Italian groceries that serve food like Pocorellos in BR and Gendusas in NO.

Been to DaVinci several times and its good but not on par with the above mentioned, in my mind at least. Been to all the locals around Katy...Anthonies, Pane Vino, etc. What else you got?

Giacomo's in the River Oaks area, though I think they may be doing take out only these days...I can't keep up with who is take out only vs. limited dine in.

Also, if you're looking for pizza...had some really great stuff over at Rosie Cannonball a few weeks ago.

Be sure you order the focaccia di recco, extra crispy with pickled peppers.

It ain't real fancy, but I just discovered and tried Rocco's in Northside area last night and enjoyed my meal. Had a caprese salad and chicken parm.

We use to like Nick’s Italian. I always got Nick’s shrimp.

Had Roccos and Nicks. Both decent.

Based on what I have heard here, I will give Giacomos a shot.

Thanks gents!
