Six years? That place been open longer than that.

Did the current owners buy it only six years ago?

And what construction do they speak of that "won?"

Sherwood has been torn up for months, and apparently they can't get asphalt from barges due to high Mississippi River levels.

Even though we lived pretty close to there we only went twice. I thought it was pretty solid, too.

I prefer Philly Me Up as well but I hate the way I smell after walking in to that place even if I am just picking it up I smell like a Philly Cheese Steak for the rest of the day. Never had that problem at South of Philly.

I loved SOP but I feel like every time I was there it was pretty empty.

They've been cleared to ship it down they are supposed to start working on it two weeks. Apparently too late for these guys though.

Do y'all really think construction was the reason? I think they were saying it as a joke.

A lot of businesses have complained about it. I don't think it's that bad to drive. It's not smooth but arguably better than when it had tons of potholes.

It’s funny how EBR keeps spouting this bullshite as Ascension Parish is laying down asphalt all over the place

Well, it's special asphalt that apparently only comes from one place in Arkansas.

Ascension isn't special.

Now, back on topic, the last few times I'd been to South of Philly, it seemed like they'd taken a step back from what they used to be. That place felt like it was circling the drain for a couple years now.

The fries were awful, the only way they were edible was with the cheese sauce to dip them in

The sandwiches more than made up for it though

This makes me kinda sad, but Sherwood was always such a shitty location. Despite living in BR, I frequented the Gonzales and Prarieville locations far more frequently.

Sherwood is such a clown show, and that abysmal construction has shown zero progress for 4 months.

I used to drive across town to eat there. Last few times pretty empty. I did think the quality started dropping a few years ago. Used to really enjoy it.

Since trying Philly Me Up on Jefferson years ago, I’ve only had SOP once. Only to confirm that PMU>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SOP.
Not. Even. Close.

I think its more about the traffic rather than the road condition

They've stopped working on it as much, but when Sherwood was closed to single lanes during the day it was a miserable place to be
