Yes, the heating element provides the heat to cook the meat. The amaze-n-pellet tray provides the smoke.

The heat from the element cooks the meat and as the air heats in the MES it rises out the top and it draws in air through the mailbox. Which then carries the smoke up into the MES and out the top.

damn son. You came so close to achieving the dream and now This.

You could run a pipe out the top and through the wall. I saw some guys that did it in their garage. But I'd be sure to clean often... Grease fires and all. Lol

With this set up you can cold smoke easily. Like cheese's and stuff. In that case you wouldn't use the element.

I don't smoke inside my house. That was just a pic I took before taking it out on the deck, lol.

Like I said, you could do it by just running some pipe out of the top vent and through a wall.

Probably a big fire hazard if you don't clean it well, but it would work.

It's not that big of a deal though, since I light this thing and don't have to mess with it unless I'm pulling out the meat to wrap it or whatever.

The pellet tray has only gone out on me once, and that was the first time cause I didn't pack the pellets tightly in the tray. Since then, no issues.

AMNPS is the only way to smoke with the MES, some on here still won’t jump on that train much less the mailbox mod.

Relax Aaron Franklin. It's still an electric smoker

How many times and how often were you loading wood chips? I dont need 8-10 hours of smoke, ever

I don't either, but I usually need 4-6 for butts before I wrap them.

I never used the wood chip loader, but I heard ever thirty minutes to an hour you had to add some.

fire hazard

They told us that back in the 90s and I never met a single soul who had fire issues from smoking inside the house.

Paint peeling? Some minor. Ventilation issues? Smoke odor? Yes. But 8t was doable. But never fire.

If you let grease build up from not cleaning it out regularly it can be a huge fire issue.

House probably wasn't wired correctly. 90%of all fires are due to Faulty wiring.

I would say 45min to an hour. So I load an average of 4 times usually before wrapping. And it takes about a minute at best to load the tray. Are u saying, this is too much work?

It's not that much work. But I can put butts on, go to sleep for 4-6 hours, have my wireless thermometer wake me up when I hit temp. Go wrap them, then go back to sleep and not have to get up every 45 minutes to an hour. And my butts are done in the morning when I get up, not at 5 or 6 o'clock in the evening.

Or I can leave and go run errands, etc for 4-6 hours.

Gotcha. I never smoke when sleeping, so didn't think about that. As far as running errands, a true OT Pitt master doesn't leave his smoker to run errands. ;)

When smoking inside the house it's not a good idea to leave it unattended. I've done it Before but only for a couple of hours out of a 28 hour smoke.

Well, I mean, I'm not gonna do anything to it anyway. Might as well get some other shite done.

It defeats the entire point of owning an electric and the chip loader smoke is far worse tasting than perfect TBS every time with the pellet tray.

One of those wouldn't own electric anyway.

I was being a lil sarcastic, did you not see the winky face. It was a joke, cuz a lot of pitt masters on here talk about part of the experience is sitting outside near the pitt drinking and what not. I get it, you’re hardcore. I’m just a casual once a month or so smoker. The MES is all I need and put out great food. I don’t know what the difference in taste between wood chips and pellets would be, both are wood right?

Pffft. I've been smoking since my dad first taught me as a kid. I use my MES whenever I'm feeling lazy. Or it's raining...since it lives on my covered deck.
