Personally, I think this country has turned into a bunch of uptight miserable little wah wah frickers more concerned with what everyone else is doing, and less on enjoying their own damn life and leaving room for others to enjoy their own.

They just aren't real cool anymore, people that is.

Only certain people can get away with that. Like Knowshon Moreno, Cameron Jordan or other 2nd place athletes.

Yeah. That's what it is.

I used to smoke, but I quit cold turkey. However, I would rather smoke than suck on one of those dumbass e cigarettes.

They're ridiculous. No one knows the health risks. And, really, I don't give a shite about that one way or the other. They're obnoxious and if someone can't refrain from sucking on one of those adult pacifiers long enough to enjoy dinner, they are a fricking weakling.

Clearly it is.

We've gone from a people who thought nothing of firing up smokes at 30k feet in an enclosed pressurized area riding on top of high octane jet fuel, and no non smokers even complaining about that complete lunacy to a people worrying about a smokeless vapor in a restaurant, whether they think like I do, dress like I do, and say the appropriate things I think are appropriate.

We've become a miserable bunch of little titty babies. That's a fact, and perhaps the only thing we hate worse about a persons personal liberty we don't enjoy or believe in, is deviation from a set standard we think everyone should adhere to without any choice to the contrary. We not only believe it's our right to tell others how to dress, what they should or shouldn't do, think or say, but we believe we should have the right to tell privately owned businesses what their policies are regarding legal activities and who they cater to or not.

In short, we fashion ourselves and our self importance to such a degree of obscurity that we've become a bunch of very uncool whinny little unpleasant people. And many, if not most of these same people are the same who regularly complain about how big their government is getting and how much their liberties are under attack, even the same who think it's appalling that government can legislate them smoking something that grows out of the earth, yet they are in favor of dictating to the private sector what their policies are regarding very similar activities, and even legal activities at that.

Yeah... I find we've become a very miserable uncool people in my experiences with people. Unhappy, and up under everyone else's business.

Very well said. The mere sight of someone smoking shouldn't bother you.. The reason real cigs are banned is because the odor is very offensive, and second hand smoke is bad for you.

There are so many things that are offensive or "trashy". Big whoop! If it's a nice restaurant, then the owner should just ban the things, along with other vessels of trashiness. If it's not, saying they are trashy or that you can smell them isn't a good enough reason.

People wear perfume, cologne, deodorant. There are smelly people from India who wear no deodorant. There are things in life that we can smell.. Get over it

I use them, but I think it is in bad form to blow clouds in a place that doesn't allow smoking. I'll pull mine out in a restaurant, but I only stealth vape. I hold in the vapor for longer than usual and only exhale a small amount of vapor. You'd have to be looking for it to see it. I think people who use e cigs need to be respectful of others.

Like a lot of other people have said, who gives a shite? Why are we so concerned about what other people are doing, when it is something that is so trivial and merely "looks trashy"? I just can't see letting things like this ruin my dining experience.

I have never smoked in my life, but I chew nicotine gum like a fiend, which now, from reading this thread, I suppose chewing gum after a meal at a nice restaurant is probably also trashy.

They still have the razor blade disposal chute in jet lavatories. I can't recall ever shaving on a plane and I've been flying for 50 years.

Going to the beach as a kid in the backseat of the Buick Estate wagon, opening the window to smell the salt smell at the first sight of Pensacola Beach and the old man yelling " put up the God Damn window, you're letting the smoke out.And hand me a God Damn Schlitz."

I don't drink or partake in recreational/prescription drug use, so the nicotine gives me a quick buzz, kinda speedy

ETA: It's a cheap vice for a compulsive person. 170 pieces lasts about a month. $40/month is a lot less than I was spending when I drank! Although I do chew two pieces of 4mg at a time. I think I chew the equivalent of smoking 4 packs a day (kidding, I don't know what the equivalent is!)

My old man drank a butt load of Schlitz as well. I can still hear that "Pshht" sound as he and his buddies would open their cans, immediately followed by "click" as the lighters would fire up those Winston's and Pall Malls.

Matter of fact, one of those memories that stuck with me growing up was going to the games in TS and the distinctive smells of liquor and cigar and cigarette smoke all over the place.
