One of my buddies has done it a few times and said it’s amazing. I’m going to give it a whirl this weekend when I smoke some ribs.

He suggested mixing it with some type of ground sausage to give it a different flavor and mix it at a 2-1 ratio of beef to sausage. I haven’t fully decided on that, but I’m at least considering it.

What I wanted to get a recommendation on is the temp to pull it at. He said he pulls his at 195 but everything I’m reading says to do it at 165... which is closer to what I would have thought.

Who has done a meatloaf and what would you recommend in terms of mixing or not, and the temp to pull it off at?

No because you can cook a delicious burger on a regular grill in under 10 min

There was a great article And recipe about this in Tiger Rag a while back.

I cook mine at 250 for 2-3 hours or until it hits 160 internal.

Bulk Sausage would be fine. You don’t “need” anything extra, but get creative with it and make it any way you want.

It pisses my wife off how much I love meatloaf. After smoking one she about up and left me.

165. At 145 I crank up the heat to sear the outside. You could also throw it under broiler. I did this one last time and it was pretty darn good. He has a youtube video of it also.
Smoked Meatloaf from Kent

I've done with pork added, deer, plain beef, whatever I have and it's all good. If you put it in a pan, poke holes in it or you will end up with a poached meatloaf swimming in fat

All solid advice
One thing I know, go easy on the smoke I ruined the first one I tried.

also don't put it into a container. Form it and put it on foil/pan/something with 5 sides exposed.
