Once upon a time there was one on South Sherwood Forest next to the McDonald's. Went there as a kid.

Are these really that good? Or it just a Texas thing like Whataburger?

Sambath by Ichiban is my go to donut shop on Essen.

Wasn't there one on Florida at Lobdell long ago?

Baton Rougeans will never give up Mary Lee. To me, Mary Lee Donuts are fine to have but nothing great whatsoever. I wish Shipleys the best, but that location does not give me great hopes.

When we lived in South Texas, Shipley's had the only decent donuts. And we had to drive an hour to get them!!

The one in Metairie is pretty good. But I still love Tastee.

I wish them the best. They're better than Mary Lee, but you're not going to convince Baton Rougeans of that.

Shipley's Sausage Kolaches are really good! I'll be a regular customer for those alone. Their donuts are fine, but, I prefer Mary Lee's glazed and jelly donuts.

Used to be one where I grew up. I still remember the menu & prices being painted on the walls. Something like 17 cents/donut hole, & 37 cents/glazed. Best donuts in the world.

Would be great if they open early enough to take the business away from Mary Lee’s. Those places are terrible.

I grew up on Shipley's, but when I moved to BR I found that Mary Lea was a pretty close substitute. Don't sell Shipley's short. The two are very similar.
